After you arrive, explains cognitive neuroscientist Gina Rippon in her riveting new book, The Gendered Brain , the big reveal will be hidden within some novelty item, such as a white iced cake, and will be colour-coded. If it is blue, it is a…. For my part, I was braced for an encounter with an egghead, who would talk at me and over me. Rippon is patient, though there is an urgency in her voice as she explains how vital it is, how life-changing, that we finally unpack — and discard — the sexist stereotypes and binary coding that limit and harm us. Neoliberalism proclaims the logic of business and money is the best determinant of human happiness. The self is just an entrepreneurial project. The body is just human capital, a set of resources — whether the brain, the breasts or the biceps — which can be put to work generating an income stream. This affects everyone — but women most of all. Women are most likely than men to perform labour that is socially necessary but low waged or unwaged, and more likely to need public services and welfare. In this nominally freer and more equal world, most women end up doing more work, for less reward, and feeling pressured to conform more closely to gender norms. Neoliberalism colonises our dreams. It cannibalises our ideals of freedom and regurgitates them as strategies of social control. She lives and breathes her feminism.

The first scene takes place at lunch, with Sheldon wondering what Penny meant by her " brain teaser ". After he comes up with the idea that Penny was checking Raj's anal region for pinworms , Leonard tells him that Penny and Raj did have sex, and that Penny was lying when she said it wasn't what it looked like. Raj and Howard then arrive. Howard and Leonard are both annoyed that Raj had sex with Penny, and Raj tries to defend himself by saying that they are in love. Leonard reveals to Howard that Raj used to like Bernadette, infuriating Howard further. Sheldon, sensing that Leonard is upset, calls Leonard's mother and the two converse through video chat. Leonard explains that while he doesn't want to get back with Penny, he cannot deal that she slept with one of his friends.
