Barry has yellow hair and orange eyes. He wears a short sleeve cardigan with orange and white stripes. He has gray pants, brown boots and wears a brown shoulder bag. Barry has the same design as in Diamond and Pearl, the only difference is that his cardigan is a jacket instead in the same design with long sleeves more appropriate for the cold climates of the region. Barry is quite hyper and always running and moving. Barry as a childhood friend often helps the player as much as he challenges them. He is quite fond of the Gym Leader Crasher Wake.
They were first released in Japan on September 28, and later released in North America, Australia, and Europe over the course of Development of Diamond and Pearl was announced at a Nintendo press conference in the fourth calendar quarter of The games were designed with features of the Nintendo DS in mind. In promotion of the games, Nintendo sold a limited-edition Nintendo DS Lite in Japan, and held a release party celebrating their North American release. The games received generally favorable reviews. Most critics praised the addition of Wi-Fi features and felt that the gameplay, though it had not received much updating from previous games, was still engaging. Barry, like the player , lives in Twinleaf Town and is also the player's childhood friend and soon-to-be rival. Barry is always in a hurry and extremely impatient, and because of this, often crashes into other people usually demanding a fine from them or misses important details. Barry is incredibly determined and it is very difficult to discourage him; the only thing that has done this so far was his crushing loss to the Team Galactic Commander , Jupiter at Lake Acuity , although this defeat lead to a major positive change in Barry's character, causing him to become slightly more serious, realistic, and mature. Barry does have a soft side, however, as seen after the wild Starly attack. After becoming the Sinnoh League Champion , the player can find him training at Stark Mountain during the week, and at the Fight Area on weekends, ready to battle. Barry wants to be like him, which is the reason he is so determined and trains hard. Barry is actually very much like his father characteristic-wise. Both he and Palmer are constantly in a hurry, running into people including the player , and both seem to react the same way when they happen to run into people.
After you defeat Wake and obtain the Fen Badge, head to the Pokemon Center to heal, then head right from there. You will run into a Galactic Grunt. Speak to him and he'll run to the Route gatehouse.
